Hi! Today I have The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Clay Mask to talk about. This is the first time, I purchased anything from The Body Shop. And now I know how much I have missed by the brand. As far as skincare is concerned, I religiously use a face mask, be it a clay mask or some hydrating mask. It all depends on my skin’s need. I use up my masks rather quickly. And this gives me the chance to keep trying different face masks, especially for oily skin.
The Body Shop is a brand I have been wanting to try for the longest time. So I picked up two of their popular face masks – Tea Tree Skin Clearing Clay Mask and The Charcoal Glow Mask. Both these masks were on my wish list for a few years. I was very excited to try them. But, today I will talk about the Body Shop tea tree skin clearing clay mask.
Product Description – Our Tea Tree Skin Clearing Clay Mask helps cleanse, cool and refresh blemished skin without over drying. Enriched with Community Trade Tea Tree Oil, the mask helps clear impurities whilst absorbing excess sebum, leaving skin feeling soothed and looking clearer.
100% vegan
Enriched with Community Trade Tea Tree Oil from the foothills of Mount Kenya.
Soothes and calms skin while absorbing excess oil.
The Body Shop is one brand that needs no introduction. Everyone, but me have already tried the vast range of skincare, that is available hehe! This global brand is a vegetarian/vegan and cruelty free, since it was founded in 1976. They have a wide range of products from skincare, hair care, fragrance, body care as well as makeup. I have very oily skin that is prone to acne. I try to keep a check on the acne by using clay based masks like the Origins Rose Clay Mask, Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Pack, Pixi Glow Mud Mask on a regular basis.I learned about tea tree oil and it’s benefits not long ago. Since I am already running low on my L’Oreal Pure clay masks, this was the best time to get some new face masks. 😀
The Packaging of the Body Shop Tea Tree Clay Mask is green in color, which looks natural to me. It is a small tub with 110gms of product. I don’t mind the packaging as I always use a spatula to scoop the mask from the tub. But a soft squeeze tube is always preferred.
The mask inside is a clay based face mask that is aqua green in color. The consistency and the texture of the mask is soft and creamy smooth. Therefore it is easy to apply unlike my Dead Sea Mud Mask which is thicker in comparison to this mask. It has a fresh minty scent to it. I have a little bottle of tea tree oil and this mask smells exactly like the tea tree oil. I just love the scent. However, after application and once the mask starts to dry, the scent fades away.
The Body Shop tea tree skin clearing clay mask contains some amazing ingredients that are also natural like –
Tea Tree Oil – Tea Tree is a therapeutic herb with antibacterial, anti-fungal and a natural antiseptic. It is an essential oil that is harvested from the leaves of tea tree plant. It is used as an effective home remedy and successfully treats various skin problems like cuts, fungal infection, rashes, dry scalp, blisters, insect bites to name a few. Tea tree oil has proven to soothe redness of the skin and eczema.
Tamanu Oil – Tamanu oil has recently been picking traffic in the beauty industry for its magical skincare properties. It helps in reducing inflammation, hyper-pigmentation, acne scars and other skin conditions. While simultaneously destroying acne causing bacteria and reducing the pain. It is like an ultimate healing ingredient.
Kaolin Clay – This is my favorite type of clay for face mask. It helps to absorb excess oil, dirt and impurities without being too stripping. This clay helps to firm the skin and eliminate fine lines and wrinkle. It contains nutrients that ensures the product stays fresh for longer time.
Glycerin – A natural moisturizer that prevents dehydration. It helps to balance the water level but can also cause some irritation to sensitive skin.
The application is as usual. I apply a thin layer on my face and neck. It tingles and feels a little cool for sometime, which I like. I leave it on for around 15-20 minutes. However , if I take a nap it stays on for a little longer. (I have a problem. The moment I lie down in 5 minutes I go to sleep. Hehe!) After it dries completely I wash it off using my damp round little sponge. Using the sponge helps to gently exfoliate my skin. It is easy to wash off this mask like the Derma-e Anti Wrinkle Vitamin A glycolic mask.
The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Clay Mask works so well for my oily skin. It absorbs excess oil and helps to prevent any breakouts. Even though is helps to absorb excess oil, it does not dry my skin. It makes my skin smooth and clean. Right now I am having the best skin days, thanks to regular use of this mask and some of my other favorites that I have already spoken about. Currently, I am reaching out to this mask more often and I don’t feel any whiteheads or blackheads on my face. I have used this mask twice a week for almost 3-4 weeks and I am loving the results.
The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing clay mask gives similar results to my Sephora Mud Mask and Himalaya Neem Face Mask in helping me control the acne that I have recently started experiencing around my chin area. I also use this tea tree clay mask as a spot treatment if any acne tries to pop up. It calms them down and the reduces redness. I don’t have any redness on my skin so I can’t comment on that but it definitely calms down the new acne flare ups, without drying the skin.
Overall, I am glad I tried this mask. I can say it is worth the hype and great reviews. I also want to mention, that this mask has helped in fading the few acne marks that are on my chin. This is one of the best masks for oily skin. It is also not drying or feel harsh on the skin. Because of the tea tree oil it also smells so good. The natural ingredients and the vegan quality makes it suitable for people with dry and sensitive skin too. However, I will suggest to do a patch test, before using in case your skin is very sensitive. 🙂 Have you tried this mask? Of course, most of you have! What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments.
Until next time stay safe and beautiful!
I love clay masks once in a while, it does help with my pores although I know it’s better suited for those with oily skin. This sounds great! I recently purchased something from The Body Shop too – their peppermint set lotion and body gel. I hope you’re doing great Via!

Thanks for stopping by Nancy. I have only tried the charcoal and the tea tree clay mask and both of them as so good and effective. It has helped me a lot with controlling my acne problem. I will continue using it. 🙂
That sounds like such a great mask for oily skin! I always worry about getting a mask that’s designed for oily skin incase it dries out my skin but this one sounds great 🙂 X

This is lovely Faye. It does not dry the skin as a regular clay mask does, and I like that about it. 🙂 Thanks a lot my dear.
I need to try more mud masks! I don’t have one but when I was looking into the body shop, I saw the tea tree line and it looked so good! Thank you for sharing this 😄

I like the sound of this mask, especially since it has helped to clear some dark marks away. That’s always such a huge benefit 🙂
Yes Marie! I am such a clay mask junkie. Anything that promises good skin I am in. Haha! Thanks a lot lovely. 🙂
Oh, this is interesting, like you I’m a fan of the Origins clay mask but this sounds like a really good slightly more budget-friendly alternative. I’ve never tried any Body Shop masks although I do like some of their make up and shower gels. I might have to give this one a go!
Lisa | http://www.lisasnotebook.com
I’d suggest you try this one, because you like Origin’s clay mask. I love that one too. Thanks a lot Lisa. 🙂
I really need to incorporate some masks into my routine. That will be a goal for next year. These sound interesting, and I do enjoy The Body Shop.

I just can’t do without a face mask. I think you should try some according to your skin’s need. Thanks a lot my dear. 🙂
I had this mask and it’s amazing on acne-prone skin but himalayan charcoal is way better in my opinion
I am glad to know your thoughts about both the masks. I have the charcoal one too, but still have not tried. I have way too many masks opened and I am trying to use them up before using the charcoal one. Thank you so much. 🙂
Looks nice and i would love to try
Great review babe

Thanks Jenna. I have oily acne prone skin and this is so good for that. I will try the Vitamin E range too. Thanks for your suggestion. 🙂
I have the Himalayan clay mask from The Body Shop but I must say in comparison to the purifying clay mask from Origins there is no comparison. I bought 3 masks from The Body Shop last year during a blogger’s event and love the Ethiopian honey mask a lot so I might try the Tea tree one too!
Thanks for sharing 🙂

Thanks a lot Huda. You should try this mask and I suggest use a soft sponge or a cloth when you are washing off this mask. It helps a lot with texture. 🙂
