Hey lovelies! Hope you are enjoying the spring time. Today I am going to review the beautiful Milani Face Illuminating Powder. Sometimes it happens that we have to leave some products for next time, because you have already done a lot of makeup shopping. The same thing always happened with the Milani Illuminating Face Powder. But, finally I got these from Amazon. The moment I saw the beautiful pattern I felt the need to have it in my life. Milani is one of my favorite brands at the drugstore, besides it is cruelty free. I have a fare amount of Milani makeup products. The everyday eyes eye shadow palettes are one of my favorites too.
Product Description – Lovely and luminous, the multi-purpose Illuminating Face Powder is a blush, bronzer and highlighter that brings the idea of lit from within to the next level. Radiant but not over-the-top shimmery, the silky smooth powder – in an exclusive design-covers all the bases with just right dose of pretty.
Milani Illuminating Face Powder is an ultra smooth powder that acts as a blush, bronzer and highlighter. It gives the skin a healthy radiant glow. This illuminating powder is available in three shades – 01 Amber Nectar, 02 Hermosa Rose and 03 Beauty’s touch. I collected them one by one. I am surprised that Milani did not discontinue these powders because these were launched way back in 2012 when I did not even know about the brand haha! 🙂
The packaging of the Milani Illuminating Face Powder is a large high quality plastic compact with a see through plastic lid. Whereas the base is very shiny and golden. I love everything about golden packaging :-). However, there is no mirror or brush available with these powders. At the back of the compact there are some little details about the product as well as simple instructions on how to apply the powder, which is standard of Milani. You will remember the Milani Everyday Eyes Eye Shadow Palettes also have these instructions.
The powder inside is embossed with small roses in various colors. I just love these type of powders and blushes that are embossed with beautiful patterns. Like my Physicians Formula Heart Blush and the J.Cat beauty love struck blush with a kitten embossed on it. 🙂 They look gorgeous in the pan and I love to look at them haha!
The formula of the Milani Illuminating face powder is soft and silky. These powders are very finely milled and blend beautifully. However these have very subtle pigmentation. These are illuminating powders that provide transparent sheen to the skin, which reminds me of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders . But, there is some color pay off in the Milani powders which looks very natural. It is designed to be used as highlighter to brighten up the complexion by adding a subtle glow. No shimmer or glitter. It just provides that subtle sheen to the skin. We can use these as blush as well as bronzer. However, I love using all of these mostly as blushes. It gives a subtle sheen and little color to the cheeks which is also subdued.
The staying power is good. On my super oily skin it lasts upto 4-5 hours before they disappear. It does not have any fragrance, however there is a faint earthy smell. Once applied you can hardly notice any scent.
01 Amber Nectar – A beautiful peachy coral shade. This shade will give a natural warmth to the cheeks and the fair beauties can get that glowing bronzy look. This one has a really interesting mix of colored roses. Like the peachy coral rose, ivory rose, tan rose, mauve-y rose, deeper bronzy rose. When swirled together it is again a natural peachy blush shade. In spite of the tan shades thrown in here, I believe the peach roses have better pigmentation than the other roses in here. Thus the overall color is natural and peachy.
02 Hermosa Rose – This shade is a tan brown shade. We can definitely use it as a glow-y bronzer but for fair skin girls. However, it will be very, very subtle. We can use it as a highlighter for medium to deep skin beauties. It has a light mauve-y rose, tan rose, light beige rose, and more bronzy brown rose. This is again a natural shade. It gives the skin a warm summery glow. There is a tiny bit of golden that appears at some angles.
03 Beauty’s Touch – This is the first powder I purchased. Look how pretty it is . There are beautiful roses deeply embossed in different shades of pink. To be specific there are five shades of roses here pink, berry, ivory, peachy pink and baby pink. I love it. It is brighter than the other shade. It is definitely a cool tone pink blush for me. We can use it as a highlighter as well. It depends on where you place your brush. This shade is very sheer but buildable.
Overall, I love each of the Milani Illuminating face powder. These are not only beautiful to look at but also perform well. You can’t overdo it with these powders. I like that you can use it as you wish. The rose design seems a little deeper. So it will not disappear after we use it a few times. I mostly use it as a blush or a highlighter. On my oily skin I prefer a subtle sheen in comparison to the a more dewy look. I find these shades unique and beautiful. I know I am very late in trying these powders. Well! I learned about these recently. These are a great multi-tasking powders. These powders are available at the drugstore as well as Milani website. Have you tried these Milani Illuminating powders? I wish this brand was available here in my country but it’s not and not all websites offer shipping which is sad since I want to try so many products from Milani. I ordered some products from Milani 2 years ago but I don’t remember where I ordered them from.

I was never tempted to give these a try mainly because I know I will never get any use out of them. They are stunning though and you really can’t go wrong with Milani.

Oh yes Christine whenever I want to buy something it is very limited at the drugstores even in US at least to the ones I go. Now I feel it is better to order from their website while I am visiting US, otherwise the shipping etc adds up to the cost and Milani is a little pricey too. I am happy that you liked and I hope you find some Milani at your location. 🙂
