Benefit Gold Rush Blush Review

Hello friends! Benefit Cosmetics did it again. With all the ooh’s and aah’s (at least that is how I behave when I hear about any new launches) Benefit Gold Rush Blush was recently launched and permanently added to their Box’O’Blush line. Earlier the gold rush blush was available in their limited edition holiday palette.

Benefit Gold Rush Blush

Product Details – A rush of gilt-y pleasure!

The golden-nectar blush gives any look a natural-looking warm glow! Embossed with a stunning “golden nugget” overspray, the specialized formula gradually lifts away to reveal a rich, nectar shade infused with delicate, golden flecks throughout the powder. The soft, blendable formula also features a signature scent with notes of citrus, vanilla & sandalwood.

Powder blush with a soft, subtle sheen

Includes rounded brush & built-in mirror

Flatters all skintones

Comes in full size & mini

The packaging of Benefit Gold Rush Blush is their regular card board box, printed with cute pattern on it. This time they have a pair of long boots which I guess is inspired by the gold miners. It is cute, however I find the GALIfornia blush packaging  more beautiful. Besides I do prefer a cute compacts to card board packaging for a blush (who else is like me let me know in the comments haha!) It comes with their standard rounded blush brush and a small built-in mirror.

Benefit Gold Rush Blush

The Benefit Gold Rush Blush, once unboxed we notice a beautiful light peachy blush with some golden shimmering over-spray. Of course the over-spray dissipates quickly after just swatching the blush. The formula as usual is satiny smooth and creamy. This has a slightly radiance finish.

Benefit Gold Rush Blush

The Gold Rush shade is a warm toned blush leaning towards peachy pink with luminous finish. There are some fine, delicate gold flecks which is not visible much. It looks very pretty and shimmery in the box. When looked closely it looks like a textured peach colored rock that has some golden shine. When I looked at the images of golden nugget online, I understood why the brand has mentioned about the golden nugget over-spray because they wanted to give this blush that look. :-). It does look beautiful in the box.

The pigmentation of Benefit Gold Rush Blush is the trickiest part. It is very sheer. I mean seriously sheer. However, it is buildable, but the pigmentation is not enough for my medium skin tone. You can see in the swatches it is barely visible. In the description Benefit claims it is for all skin tones, but I have my doubts that it will be visible on medium to deeper skin tone beauties. However it is a very pretty blush for lighter skin girls. It will give that warm peachy glow to the cheeks.

Benefit Gold Rush Blush Swatch

However, it provides luminous glow to the cheeks no matter what complexion. I think this will work well as a highlighter due to the golden sheen it has or probably as a blush topper to achieve that luminosity. Having oily skin too much luminosity is not for me, however Benefit Gold Rush Blush provides a nice natural sheen with the least color for my medium complexion. It reminds me of my Elf Natural Glow Face Palette, which I got for the packaging haha! 😉

Benefit Gold Rush Blush

Now, this will be of particular importance to you, if you have sensitive nose and sensitive skin. The fragrance in the Benefit Gold Rush Blush is quite strong. You will think Wait! What? Fragrance? Yes, Benefit added some fragrance to this blush.

However, I notice that most of Benefit blushes have a mild scent that fades away quickly after application. But the fragrance in gold rush blush is  a little overpowering. They have mentioned the notes to be citrus, vanilla and sandalwood, I don’t smell any of these. It  smells a little woodsy and sweet. I don’t mind mild scents in powders, but this one is a little too sweet for my liking. But if you like sweet scents, you will love it.  However, one of my Instagram friend will hate it haha! I wonder why blushes or even other powders need fragrance? Don’t we all use fragrance separately 😉

Benefit Gold Rush Blush

Overall, a pretty looking blush. This looks natural on cheeks because of the less color payoff. No matter how much I try to build, this blush will never all me to go over board. Even though it is pretty in the box, I am happy that I got the mini size. I would recommend this blush to light to very light skin tones. It will look beautiful on them.

Well! If you are looking for a blush with pigmentation or you are like me, having medium to deeper complexion then I guess you will not like this blush, as it will not show up on you much. There are better pigmented blushes at the drugstore like the Maybelline blush palette, Elf blushes, Physicians formula happy booster blush which has less pigmentation but it gives some color too. Even the J.Cat beauty blushes are crazy pigmented and so inexpensive. Benefit Gold Rush Blush gives a nice sheen and it best suited to lighter complexion. We can purchase this blush from Sephora. This blush is also available on Amazon but the prices are almost double, you may check if you like, however it is better to purchase from Benefit or Sephora.

Until next time stay beautiful and thank you for reading! 🙂

Wow this is a stunning shade, too bad it is not pigmented and sheer. It wouldn’t work on my skin, I would need to use too much for it to shown on mine!

    • msvia says:

Yes Yiota! A pretty shade but a little sheer on me. Maybe it will show some color on you though. Thanks a lot 🙂

  • This is definitely not for me then, I need my blushers to be pigmented. It’s a beautiful shade though.

  • The shade looks amazing but scented blush is not something I would really want to buy!
Thanks for the review honey 💕
You’ve saved few bucks for me 😃

    • msvia says:

Thanks a lot Prachi. Benefit blushes are mildly scented but this one is a little stronger to my liking. But I do adjust to everything hehe. 🙂

  • Elin says:

Is it bad that im not a big fan of the color (at least not on myself) But that box tho 😮 Its so cute >.<

    • msvia says:

It is a matter of preference Elin. It’s okay if you do not like this shade, maybe you like some other. The packaging of Benefit blushes are really cute my favorite is Galifornia blush packaging, however I prefer a compact packaging to a card board one hehehe 🙂

  • Khanak says:

Ah, Benefit always gets me with their packaging. While this is a beautiful shade, I doubt it’ll show up much on my skin tone 🙁
Thanks for saving my money for me though! You took one for the team here haha!
    Great post!
I’d love it if you’d check out my new post at https://wp.me/p7thtM-rI

  • What a pretty product and packaging. Sadly I don’t think it’s one for me though, I’m not a fan of scented make up and this looks too light for me – plus I already have a gazillion highlighters, haha! Great review, thank you Via x

  • Helene says:

I do agree with you, this blush should have a cute, pretty box as all the other Benefit cosmetics blushes. My favorite one is the Galifornia blush, I have the travel size and it’s perfect for Summer! Too bad this one it’s not pigmented, it should be working for more skin tones as well!

    • msvia says:

Galifornia packaging is my favorite too. Benefit does claim it is for all skin tones but in the swatch we can see it is very subtle for my skin tone. But it will be perfect on you Helene.:-)

  • Marie says:

This really is quite pretty to look at. Seeing as it won’t show up on deeper tones, I’d use it on my eyelids maybe. It’s been a long time since I’ve used anything from Benefit but I love their packaging and their brand story 🙂

    • msvia says:

Great idea. I will be using this as a blush and highlighter as well as eye shadow. It will really look pretty. Thanks a lot for the suggestion Marie. Thank you 🙂

  • Marie says:

It’s a good shade but not sheer. Great and very detailed review!

    • msvia says:

Thank a lot for visiting Marie. Glad you liked the review. This shade doesn’t show up much on me. 🙂

  • Bexa says:

This looks like a really pretty shade, it’s a shame it’s so light & doesn’t show up very well. Thank you for your honest and helpful review Via. Gorgeous photography as always lovely 💖 xx

  • Sam says:

The product looks beautiful in the box, but don’t think this one would work out for me – maybe as a highlight but would rather want to try the becca highlighters next. Great review love 😙

I don’t really wear blush but I love benefit and the quality of their products! Personally, I don’t think I’d get this because it sounds just too light and too sheer for my skintone, but I can definitely see that slight flush of colour looking gorgeous on someone pale! x

    • msvia says:

Benefit is a great brand. This is a pretty shade for pale skin but for my medium skin tone it adds a little glow to the face. Thanks a lot for visiting Marina. 🙂

  • Huda says:

This is such a pretty shade, I have to say I don’t iften go for shimmery blushes like these but I do like them if they have a subtle glow! xx

    • msvia says:

Yes this one has a subtle glow. Huda it does give that glow if you prefer with a little color. In the swatch you can see and thank you:-)

  • Velvet Blush says:

I haven’t tried any Benefit ones because I do find them to be a bit gimmicky, and the cardboard packaging doesn’t look very convenient! It’s a shame it’s not very pigmented, I agree you can find more pigmented ones at the drugstore x

I recently tried the Benefit blushes and kind of like them but this one does not show up much on me. It is better as a highlighter and even I don’t prefer card board packaging but it is not that bad hehehe 🙂

  • jane says:

    The packaging looks pretty nice.
    Love the swatches too

  • Juliet Ly says:

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I do like a subtle highlighter sometimes but a heavy fragrance is a no-go for me!

    • msvia says:

Yes Juliet the fragrance lingers a little longer than the other Benefit blushes but eventually fades. Thanks a lot:-)

  • I too love using blushes that have less color payoff and give a natural look! This shade might not show up on my medium skin tone though, may look more like a highlighter on me 😀 By the way, the packaging looks lovely <3

    • msvia says:

Even I prefer light blushes but if they are pigmented I use a lighter hand. This one no doubt is a pretty shade but for lighter complexion. The Galifornia one is pretty though. 🙂

  • monica says:

i like sheer blushes, I have a hard time with pigmented ones and tbh i rarely wear blushes

    • msvia says:

I think, then you will love this blush as it is quite sheer. I like sheer blushes as well but this one does not show up much on my medium skin tone. Thanks a lot Monica 🙂

  • Kaye says:

Lovely review and that colour is just my style. I love your photos as well. Benefit Blushes became my fave ever since I tried the rockateur which is on the darker side compared to gold rush. It looks somewhat like the nars blush colours. Great post 🙂

    • msvia says:

Thanks for visiting Kaye. Even I tried Benefit blushes recently and I really love them. I still have to get Rockateur. 🙂
