Hey Everyone! If you have joined me on Instagram you must have seen the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Foundation feature in a few of my posts. Today I want to talk about this foundation in detail. 🙂

Estee Lauder is a well know brand in the beauty industry. We can find some amazing range of products in the skincare, makeup and fragrances as well. Every beauty addict must have tried something from this brand. When I learned about their #1 Best seller in makeup to be Estee Lauder double wear stay in place foundation was eager to try besides I also wanted to test the hype it received everywhere. 🙂
Having oily skin it is difficult to maintain my makeup, throughout the day, especially when in a hot and humid weather. I am always on a hunt to find a foundation that will keep me matte all day. However, I have found one namely L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation which is currently the best for oily skin people at the drugstore, but I needed one from the higher end brands. My requirement is mainly a matte foundation because of my super oily skin and Estee Lauder double wear stay in place foundation met the criteria. This foundation has been raved about since its launch. I thought of giving it a try. Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation has been with me for the past few months. I believe the shade is not perfect for me. However I make it work by using some bronzer and blush.
The packaging of the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Foundation is simple and elegant. It is a small glass bottle with the golden lid with the beautiful Estee Lauder insignia. The bottle feels heavy and luxurious. I just love the look of the bottle. It photographs beautifully haha! However it does not come with a pump which is the biggest drawback.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay In Place Foundation is available in substantial range of 42 shades. The shades are available in Cool , Neutral and Warm undertones. It was difficult for me to decide the shade. I got the shade 3C2 Pebble which is an okay match for my skin tone. The girl at the counter insisted on this shade so I got it. I should have gone for Warm undertone. Well! we learn from mistakes. I would suggest getting sample before you decide your shade.
The consistency of the Estee Lauder Double Wear stay in place foundation is liquid but not too thick or watery. Considering the high coverage it gives I was expecting the formula to have higher viscosity. I find the light weight, oil-free and ultra long wearing formula of Estee Lauder Double Wear stay in place foundation to be perfect for my oily skin. It does not have any fragrance. However, it smells like makeup.
Application wise it spreads and blends easily. However, we have to work faster as it dries pretty quickly. I use my damp beauty blender. This foundation provides medium to full coverage that gives a semi matte finish to my super oily skin. It feels light on the skin and covers all the imperfections well. Just one layer provides pretty good coverage. I don’t like full coverage so I just use little and it works well for me. Even though it is light weight we do feel that we are wearing some makeup.
Overall I am very pleased with the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Foundation. It is extremely long wearing. However I have not tried wearing it for 24 hours or even 15-16 hours. 🙂 I find the semi matte finish that provides a soft focus look to be the best attribute of this foundation. It absorbs my oil quite well through out the day. I want to mention that dry skin girls really moisturize well before using this foundation, it may leave your skin feeling dry. Full coverage for me is on special occasions, but that can make you look flat. Using a highlighter, blush and bronzer makes it a beautiful foundation. It photographs well.
Finally, this is one of the best foundations I have tried and highly recommend if you are looking for medium to full coverage foundation that lasts all day. The Estee Lauder Double Wear Light is also a great option. However, the difference here is that the double wear light is sheer to medium coverage, can be used by all skin types, it feels light weight and also provides natural finish. It is a matter of preference here. 🙂

My mum swears by this but it looks awful on my dry-normal skin. The coverage is also too much for my liking, I am tempted to try the lighter version though.

I love how detailed this review was! I’ve heard a lot about it but I usually stick to drugstore foundation and since I have dry skin I have to careful about using matte foundations! I’m glad it worked for you though! xx

This is actually one of my favourite high end foundations! I know a lot of people say it’s too much, but I actually find that I only need a tiny bit of it to even out my cheeks, so it actually looks more natural for me and covers any redness. I have been thinking of picking it up but because I don’t wear foundation daily I feel like it might go to waste, I got a really generous sample last time so I was able to try it out properly.
It’s a shame she made you pick the wrong shade, honestly it happens so many times! They should let you return it if it’s their mistake, that’s one thing that puts me off high end face products. You might pay a lot only for them to encourage you to buy the wrong shade 🙁 x
I wear this foundation occasionally as even I prefer light to medium coverage. And with this foundation we need a tiny amount and it is great. I got this at the airport so there was no chance of changing the shade haha! However I am not sure about the Estee Lauder counters in the malls. But Sephora would definitely change it. 🙂 Thanks lovely.
I swear, I must be the only one that hasn’t tried this foundation. Everyone seems to love it! I prefer medium coverage, not so much into full coverage products for every day use but this would be a great option for special & formal events!!!

Yes Yiota this is my formal foundation when I need some good coverage. Even then I use this sparingly as I don’t like full coverage. 🙂
In general, I don’t like listening to people at counters because they tend to spout out a load of old crap, which is unfortunate because it means you waste your hard earned cash on the wrong shade. This happened to me just recently in a Sephora store, where I’d just come in and was slightly red from a break out – so she picks out my Urban Decay Naked Skin shade and it was AS RED AS A TOMATO. I mean, seriously, my skin isn’t broken out everyday so it was never going to work for me and was a serious waste of money.
All complaints aside, I love your photography and would really love to try Double Wear, as I’ve heard so much about it! I love a full coverage foundation and I might just have to take your advice and make sure my skin is thoroughly moisturised before use – I have a tendency to go dry in places. I haven’t tried this foundation out yet!! It’s such a cult classic, isn’t it? I’ve also stayed away from it because I figured it might be too drying for me, but maybe the light version is better for my skin. Have you tried the double wear concealer yet? That is one that is currently on my wish list but I haven’t managed to get my hands on it yet

You are absolutely right Sam this foundation may feel a little drying for your skin type. However you will need to moisturize well if you really want to try. I suggest getting sample first. I have not tried the concealer yet but will check. 🙂 Thank you lovely.

I’ve heard so much about Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation but it’s quite pricey so I haven’t given it a go yet. But, if it works as well as you say then perhaps I should ask for it as a present the next time we go through the Duty Free 🙂 x

This foundation has been raved about so much since it was launched and I wanted to try. I would suggest getting a sample and getting a perfect shade. I wish it came with a pump attached but I have read that the MAC pump fits well on this bottle. I have not tried though. 🙂 Thanks a lot lovely
