Cover FX Illuminating Setting Spray Review

Hello friends! So today I have the Cover FX Illuminating Setting Spray to review. I have not tried anything from Cover FX but have heard great reviews, about the brand and some popular highlighters. Cover FX makes some beautiful highlighting products and their illuminating spray is well loved. In spite of my love for highlighters, I never tried any highlighting products by the brand, because of my oily skin. Even though the Illuminating setting spray is raved about so much in the beauty world,  I stayed away from it. When I have any doubts about using a particular product I never purchase it. However, the Cover FX Illuminating Setting Spray came to me in one of my Boxycharm Beauty Box, and I was very happy that I will be able to try it and see if it works for me. 🙂

Cover FX Illuminating Setting Spray

Product Details – A quick drying setting spray that sets makeup for all day wear and imparts instant, all-over illumination. It’s alcohol free, so it’s not drying to the skin.

What it Does : Ready. Set. Glow! This alcohol -free setting spray provides instant illumination. While giving your makeup serious staying power. The ultra-fine mist application delivers an even, luminous finish making this a perfect all-over highlighter for both face and body – and the more you mist, the more intense you glow.

The packaging of the Cover FX Illuminating Setting Spray is the most exciting light duo chrome bottle. The gorgeous iridescent holographic packaging is very stunning and beautiful to look at. I tried but it was difficult to capture in my photo. ( I also tried using a torch  to capture the iridescence haha! )

While the packaging is most exciting the spraying pump on this bottle is most impressive. Now a days, I am a regular user of makeup setting sprays, but the mist from the Cover FX Illuminating Setting Spray is very impressive. It is so fine and delicate, that it almost feels like it is not doing anything. It is absolutely gorgeous and sprays evenly. I have never tried any spray that has such fine mist.

The alcohol free formula sounds great. It will not dry our skin. However, I have seen and read that alcohol is one of the top 2-3 ingredient that helps our makeup to last longer. I cannot comment on the lasting power of this setting spray because I was not able to test it beyond four hours.

This illuminating spray is intense and powerful even though the mist is super fine and delicate. We have to shake the bottle super intensely, in order to not get the illumination super intense. It is  suggested that we hold the bottle 8″-10″ away from our face to mist evenly on to the skin. This illuminating spray can get on to your clothes if you are wearing black. I could see the tiny specs of glitter on my bathroom counter which is black. So we have to be careful about that.

The Cover FX Illuminating Setting Spray feels cooling on the skin and dries quickly. It also feels light weight on the skin. It provides instant glow to the skin, which also looks natural and beautiful, but just after my makeup application. As I have mentioned my skin is very oily and does it’s own illumination, adding extra luminosity looks too much on my skin after a couple of hours. Spraying it all over my face makes me look like a grease ball – literally. The humid weather and the high temperature here also adds up to this. 🙂

I also tried this setting spray after using my Estee Lauder double wear foundation foundation and setting it with my Laura Mercier loose translucent setting powder. Made my face a little cake-y and just sprayed a light layer of the Cover FX Illuminating Setting Spray and it looked absolutely beautiful. However, I want to mention that when I looked closely in my x5 magnifying mirror which I should not 😉 I could see tiny dots of shimmer all over my face. This spray did not control my oils after about 3-4 hours my face was looking more shiny than normal which does not look good.  I think this illuminating setting spray is more for dry skin beauties who also live in some cooler weather where their makeup will not melt and will keep glowing all day haha!

Overall, the Cover FX Illuminating Setting Spray is a beautiful spray but sadly not for my super oily skin. However, this adds beautiful glow when used on the body. But I think I will stick with my natural looking Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders and my other powder highlighters like the Becca Prosecco Pop that I can use to highlight, only certain high points of my face and not have to spray all over my face. Because it starts looking very shiny. However, this is best suited for girls with dry to normal skin types, they will love using this Illuminating Setting Spray. I will be passing it on to my sister who has dry skin. My Urban Decay All Nighter is better for my super oily skin. This setting spray is available at Sephora and on the Cover FX Website in full and mini size if you wish to try. 🙂

Have you tried this illuminting setting spray? Or do you like using illuminating setting sprays? Which one is your favorite?

Until next time take care and keep glowing! 🙂
