Amouage OPUS X – The Library Collection Fragrance Review

Hello everyone! Today I have a special fragrance to talk about. Amouage OPUS X fragrance from the library collection. This is a very special fragrance in my collection. It is a gift from hubby darling and it is also the most expensive perfume that I have tried. I had posted about it on my Instagram in January. It took me a while to understand this fragrance and some research about the inspiration behind Amouage Opus X. But one thing I want to mention is, when I smell this perfume, I just want to keep inhaling the scent, continuously, I don’t want to exhale. 🙂 You understand what I mean! LOL!

It is an intelligent take on rose.

Inspiration

Amouage Opus X fragrance is inspired by the 1998 film The Red Violin. It tells the epic story of the journey of a red violin, that was made in the 17th Century by a master violin maker. During the making of the violin, the creator’s wife dies while giving birth to her child. So the creator mixes the blood of his wife into the varnish, in order to keep her memory alive forever. The movie follows the journey of the violin, over centuries, across continents.

The Packaging

The packaging of Amouage Opus X fragrance is absolutely beautiful and unique. The outer packaging looks like a book cover. It has a lovely pattern of the red violin. The red and gold color go so well and give that vintage look. The bottle inside is a beautiful gradient of red and golden. The gold cap and the golden insignia on the bottle is just stunning. When we look at the bottle closely or when light hits the bottle we see the real beauty of the bottle. There is shimmer and shine. I tried to capture. However, the bottle is big and we have to be careful while spraying. It comes with a golden base where we can keep the bottle safely. It is a beauty.

The Scent

Amouage Opus X fragrance from the Library Collection is the most mysterious and the most unique rose fragrance in my collection. It opens sharp, rough, intense and metallic. I also smell the spicy cinnamon sticks, however there is no cinnamon in the notes. It is also very strange and addictive. I also feel like, I keep spraying more and more. I am unfamiliar with a few notes in this fragrance. But, I did some research. For example the Ambrarome – which is basically an accord that evokes some leathery amber and green notes with a hint of pepper, tar, tobacco and coffee. But, I don’t smell coffee. But it all depends on our body chemistry.

I do smell the varnish accord which is like smelling a nail polish. There is something cooling in the scent. Similar to the way a varnish smells. We feel that coolness in our nose, of course it is also not too obvious. There is a some subtle-ness to it. I read some where, it smells like blood. NO! It does not. But it is very metallic. After a few hours, this fragrance morphs into a beautiful floral. Multiple rose accords and all the other flowers dominate, but does not leave the metallic accord. The dry down is pure, smooth yet intense and still very mysterious. By the end of the day the varnish accord and the metallic scent kind of take a back seat. However, it does not change much.

I never thought all these roses have a distinct scent. To me they all smell like rose. The notes blend seamlessly, I just can’t distinguish between them. However, there is that metallic vibe to it. You know how the coins and metals smell. The rose remains in harmony with all the other notes. The varnish accord adds that richness to the fragrance.

The lasting power of Amouage Opus X fragrance is like ages. It sits on our skin for a very long time. Even after you have showered, you will still smell this on you. The other day, I sprayed some on my hair, because I was loving it so much. Even after I washed my hair the other day I could still smell it. It still has that floral and metallic opening, but it is also amazing. The silage is outstanding. It is very strong the moment you spray it. However, less is more with this fragrance. Just a couple sprays and it will last the whole day with perfect amount of silage. It will never go unnoticed.

Amouage OPUS X - The Library Collection Fragrance Review

I am very happy to have this fragrance, which is like art in a bottle. Everyone may not appreciate it. Like the art movies or a piece of art and even artful music. But if you are into unique and strange fragrances, I highly recommend checking it out. It will definitely challenge your notion about what a unique fragrance can be. It did to me. Amouage Opus X fragrance from The Library Collection is not feminine and sexy like my other fragrances – Valentino Donna or Ralph Lauren or even Elle Saab. But it is elegant, sober and unique for sure. I don’t think there exists any other perfume to resemble it. It is not sweet and sexy like J’adore but sober and elegant. I recommend checking it out before you order your own from Amazon. Because it is a pricey one too.

Until next time stay healthy, bright and beautiful!
