Important Tips For Strong, Healthy And Shiny Hair

Hi! Today, I am here to share some very important tips for strong, healthy and shiny hair. Our hair is our crowning glory. We must take good care of them because beautiful hair makes us look gorgeous and attractive. While genetics play an important role in how your hair is, your diet, weather, pollution and your overall hair care routine are equally important in maintaining your crowning glory. No matter the type of hair you have, certain hair care tips are common to everyone. Wavy hair, curly hair, straight hair, oily hair, dry hair, thick hair, thin hair type, the best way to take care of your hair is somewhat the same. You may also be aware of these tips, but sometimes tend to forget or ignore them. Here are some simple yet important tips for strong, healthy and shiny hair.

Important Tips For Strong, Healthy And Shiny Hair

Wash your hair with lukewarm water – Hot showers may seem relaxing, but be real and you know that hot showers strip down the oils from your skin as well as hair. It is always better to use lukewarm water to wash your hair. If you notice your skin feeling dry, hot water baths may be one of the reasons.

Be extra gentle with wet hair – Wet hair is more prone to damage. It is three times more vulnerable to breakage. Always let your hair air dry before combing. However, if you must comb wet hair, always use a wide-tooth comb to detangle but be gentle. Don’t comb too much.

Choose the right shampoo – Using wrong products on your hair can cause significant damage. Use shampoo that is right for you. If you have oily or dry hair, choose shampoo accordingly. If you suffer from dandruff, use an anti-dandruff shampoo. Or if you have color treated hair, use shampoo that is specifically made for color treated hair. It is also important to change your shampoo every three to four months. Switch between your favorite brands.

Always use a good conditioner – Conditioning after shampoo is very important to keep your hair soft, shiny and manageable. But using a conditioner the right way is also important. Your hair tends to get greasy at the roots. Always avoid using conditioner near your roots and scalp. Apply conditioner from your mid length to the ends of your hair. This will not weigh your hair down. Deep conditioning treatment once a week will do wonders to your hair. You don’t have to go to a salon for this. You can do it at home. Just apply a rich hair mask, wrap a warm towel to your hair and leave it on for 20-30 minutes. Your hair will be soft and shiny, I promise.

Eat Healthy – If you want your hair to be healthy, thick and strong, eat healthy. Healthy food that is good for your body is also good for your hair. However, in my experience eating green leafy vegetables like spinach, nuts, flax seed, protein rich diet, beans, green tea, yogurt, etc. work wonders to your hair as well as nails. However, you will see the results only after three months of eating regular healthy diet.

Protect your hair from the sun – Sun is one of the culprits to damage your skin. In the same way it damages your hair. In fact direct sunlight hits your hair. Always wear a hat or wrap a scarf when you are out and about in the sun for longer period of time. Besides hats work as an accessory for bad hair days.

Hydrated hair – Hydration is important for you skin as well as your hair. A well hydrated hair is happy and healthy. When your hair is wet take a few drops of light weight oil or serum to give it some moisture and keep your hair soft, smooth and frizz free.

Minimize the use of hot tools – There are times and occasions when you must style your hair. But try to limit the use of blow drier, hair straightner, etc. when not needed, to prevent excessive damage to your hair. Avoid these tools as much as you can. However, when using hot tools, use a hair protecting serum or spray. This will protect your hair from damage. Just think about what will happen if those hot tools touch your skin. The same way these damage your hair when used excessively, only you don’t feel it. Also avoid multiple professional hair treatments like perming, straightening and hair coloring all at the same time. Give your hair some time to rest in between treatments.

Overall, these are some of the important tips for strong, heathy and shiny hair, that I always keep in mind while taking care of my hair. Taking good care of your hair will go a long way. The earlier you start the better. You don’t want thinner hair in your 40s and later. How do you take care of your hair? Please share in the comments. 🙂

Until then stay safe, healthy and take good care of your crowning glory! 🙂
