Hourglass Ghost Ambient Lighting Blush Quad Review & Swatches

Hi! And yes! I finally gave in bought this years most desired Hourglass Ghost Ambient Lighting Blush Quad. And I am super happy and excited about it. Like every year, it is that time of the year when everyone on social media starts talking about whether to buy or not to buy the Hourglass limited edition holiday collection Ambient Lighting Palettes. It is also the time of the year when so many brands release their holiday collections.

For the past few years Hourglass has been releasing their limited edition Ambient lighting palettes. I just love their Ambient lighting powders. But, I never gave into their pricey six pan palettes. Even when they give you the feeling of a prized possession and are just so beautiful. The quality and packaging everything is so desirable. This year again Hourglass released their holiday palettes called the Unlocked – Ghost edition.

There are two palettes in this collection. Their normal six pan palette and the new four pan blush quad. When I saw the blush quad, it kept dancing in my mind. I had to get it. Firstly, because it is the Hourglass blush palette and secondly it is less pricey in comparison to their regular edit palette. However, this year I was not that happy with their packaging. But when I saw it in person, the top silver glossy lid is still beautiful.

The packaging of the Hourglass ghost ambient lighting blush quad is a glossy mirrored silver compact with a translucent plastic bottom. Every year Hourglass has the most beautiful compacts. However, this year, I don’t know why Hourglass had to change the packaging. The plastic bottom takes away the beauty of the palette. For me packaging is as important as the product inside. I wanted to purchase the blush trio they had released a few years back but didn’t get the chance. And now I own this palette but the packaging is ufff! 🙂

The formula of the hourglass ambient powders are extremely finely milled. These are very soft and smooth to touch. The pigmentation is also great. However, these don’t swatch well. But perform wonderfully when applied on the cheeks. These blushes and the ambient lighting powders seem to melt into the skin seamlessly and give a beautiful glow. I want to mention, a little goes a long way with these blushes. The lasting power is great, even on my oily skin. I have some more blush posts that you can take a look at – like the Dior 999, Dior Confident blush and some favorite drugstore blushes like Milani baked/ rose blush, Elf blush quad etc.

The hourglass ghost ambient lighting blush quad includes four shades of blushes. Three are new and one is from their regular permanent line. I love the color selection.

Surreal Effect – This is one of the new shades in this palette. A medium tone light pink with magenta swirls. It looks youthful and lovely light pink on the face.

Brilliant Nude – This is a strobe blush that is available individually. However, I don’t already own it, so it’s new for me. A beautiful light golden champagne swirled in bronze shade. It is very pretty and natural looking. It looks better as a highlighter for my medium complexion.

Lucid Glow – The second new shade in the palette. A pretty coral shade swirled in soft golden shade. It will look gorgeous on medium to deep skin tones. Perfect for the summer time or mix and match.

Infinite Flush – A beautiful deeper shade which is also new in this palette. A pretty soft pink swirled in deep mauve. I love these kind of shades. Especially for the fall and winter. It is more flattering on medium to deep skin beauties.

Overall, I am very happy with the hourglass ghost ambient lighting blush quad. This is my first holiday palette, that I purchased. It is expensive, but I got it with $20 off of Sephora coupon. 🙂 However, I still don’t understand the plastic bottom on the packaging.

The quality and formula are always fantastic. These blushes give an absolute seamless finish and looks incredible. I have to say the pan size is small but we can use a blush brush easily. I love to use this palette by mixing and matching different colors, it gives the most natural looking flush to the cheeks. The formula of these blushes is incredible, I highly recommend trying at least one blush. You can still buy this palette from Hourglass website. But there are miniature size blushes available too.
