Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Mask Review

Hi! I believe, a woman will do everything in her power to have a beautiful, clear, wrinkle free, radiant skin! Dreamy! Right? So, I tried Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Mask. The fascination for gold is ancient, and still continues. The pure, precious shining yellow metal continues to be the source of inspiration, power, charisma and of course enduring love. All starry eyes. 🙂

Benefits of gold in skincare is very well known since ancient times. I mean thousands and thousands of years. I read that Cleopatra used a gold mask to enhance her beauty. Gold is not just a pretty yellow metal, but it also has some medicinal properties. In ancient times Romans, Egyptians, Chinese used gold in treating various skin conditions and health problems. Intriguing as it sounds, in present day, the value of gold has sky rocketed and it is difficult to imagine the use of real gold in skincare. Well! I am not Cleopatra, but I could use a face mask that is infused with gold, to at least feel like “A Queen”. Hehe. 🙂

Well! Skincare is a continuous work in progress. If you want to slow down the aging process and look 10-15 years younger than your real age, you have to keep working and taking good care of your skin. However, it does not mean that you have to spend a fortune for that. However, sometimes it is justified in the name of skincare. I love skincare and keep trying various skincare products that promise to leave your skin firm, lifted, radiant and beautiful. Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Mask is one of the splurge worthy mask, that I tried.

The main ingredients in Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold mask – Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Mask is a luxurious anti-aging mask. It is supposed to lift and firm the skin along with leaving your skin radiant and glowing. This statement itself tempted me to try this mask. The ingredient list is impressive. Along with 24K gold it also has caffeine, hyaluronic acid, glycerin, peridot (reduces the appearance of dull tired skin). And the addition of colloidal gold in the mask helps to promote firmness and elasticity to the skin. It does contain harmful chemicals like parabens, sulfates that can be irritating to sensitive skin. I love that Peter Thomas Roth is a cruelty free brand. I did some research and found about some of the ingredients in this mask.

24K Gold – Due to the anti-inflammatory properties, gold helps in healing redness, skin allergies, reduce acne, hyper pigmentation and soothes the skin. It also has radiance boosting qualities where it helps to brighten the skin and make it more smooth and healthy. Gold helps increase the blood flow and also helps to restore the lost elasticity and firmness of the skin. It also helps in reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

Caffeine – Caffeine improves blood circulation, protects skin from sun damage. It is a natural stimulant that constricts blood vessels that accumulate under the eyes and helps to firm the skin. Caffeine also has a powerful anti-oxidant that helps to brighten the skin along with protecting it from UV rays and slows down the process of photo-aging of the skin. However, we have to use it regularly to achieve a long term effect.

Hyaluronic Acid – Hyaluronic acid is a clear substance that is naturally produced by our body. However, as we age, the natural production of hyaluronic acid decreases. It is a humectant that is responsible to keep our skin soft and hydrated. Since it’s main function is hydration it helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Colloidal Gold – Colloidal gold also called “activated gold” is referred to as nano-particles of gold suspended in some liquid, mostly water. The shape and size of colloidal gold is important for it to be effectively absorbed by the skin. In my research I also found that colloidal gold, when combined with right ingredients can produce fabulous results.

Glycerin – Glycerin is a lovely ingredient to nourish and soothe the skin. But most importantly it is known for it’s anti-inflammatory and calming properties. It provides intense hydration and helps to brighten dull skin. It is also great to reduce redness and irritation. While also helps with acne and acne causing bacteria.

The packaging looks all golden. It comes in a very reflective, glossy golden box. It looks attractive. Inside is a large translucent plastic tub with a nice golden shiny lid. The mask inside is all gel-ish and golden. I like the luxe and expensive looking packaging. However, I wish the container was a glass jar instead of plastic. But, a squeeze tube is always better, as it protects the ingredients from getting exposed to the environment.

Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Mask has a thick gel consistency, that looks absolutely luxurious. It is thick and goopy with all the golden sparkles. I tried to capture the sparkles in direct sunlight. 🙂 The rose stem cell mask is more light and like water than the 24K gold mask.

For application of Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Mask, we need to apply a thick layer. And leave it on for 15-20 minutes before washing. However, I apply a fair amount that is not too thick or too thin, and leave it on for sometime. It feels a little warm and metallic on the skin, if that makes sense. In between, I start massaging my face in circular motion and upward direction. Since, this mask does not dry, it is easy to massage, without stretching or pulling the skin. Then I wash the mask off, with running water. However, it is a mission to wash off the goopiness of this mask. I suggest, it is better to use a wash cloth to wipe it off. But, I still keep washing hehe. Who will wash the cloth later!

After washing the mask off, my skin looks incredibly smooth, brighter and radiantly glowing. It feels like there is a film of moisture on the face. I may sound exaggerating but I instantly saw the difference, the first time I used the mask, like the pumpkin enzyme mask. So, I kept everything aside and used this mask every other day. I saw the difference as my skin looks more even tone and radiant. But I did not feel much of firmness though. I have read all good things about facial massages. So I started using the mask alongside massaging my face with my fingers. I feel the firmness and I am sure it is because of the massaging. I say that because I really work my facial muscles and plan to do it regularly.

Overall, I am glad I tried the Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Mask. I can without hesitation, say that it brightened and hydrated my skin on the very first application. And gradually helped in fading dark spots and also diminishes the look of large pores and a little redness. My skin looks more luminous after I use this mask. I just can’t comment with confidence, about the firming and tightening of my skin. This is such a slow process that I will not be able to notice the difference instantly. However, I may see the difference or miss the mask after I stop using it. I also believe there is more in the long term effect of using this mask. And the amount of product in this jar will last for ages.
