Maybelline Superstay Vinyl Ink Liquid Lipstick Review

Hi! Do you love glossy lips? Then you will love the Maybelline superstay vinyl ink liquid lipstick. The problem with glossy lips is they are not long lasting. But Maybelline has done it with their vinyl ink liquid lipsticks. And this long-wearing lipstick has taken the internet by storm.

Maybelline superstay vinyl ink liquid lipstick is a long wearing lipstick that is marketed as 16 hours of wear with a shiny, vinyl-like finish. It is available in 18 shades. This has a new application process though. You have to shake the tube before applying to make it smudge-proof and last 16 hours.

The Packaging

The packaging of Maybelline superstay vinyl ink liquid lipstick is glossy and shiny. The square barrel has a nice weight and feels luxurious. I love the laser Vinyl logo on the tube. The thinner longer applicator, makes it easy to get to the precise edges of the lips. You don’t want to mess it up. Overall, the packaging is pretty and color coordinated. The color of the tube is similar to the lipstick shade inside.

The Formula

The formula is very thin and light weight, but packs a lot of pigment. You get an opaque color in one swipe. There is no need to build the shade in layers. However, it is very important to shake it before each use. If you do not shake it will be useless. SO REMEMBER TO SHAKE THE TUBE BEFORE YOU USE IT. The consistency is extremely watery and runny if you don’t shake it to mix the pigments and oils. It also has some weight inside (like we sometimes have in the nail polish bottles) that helps in mixing the formula. Even after mixing the product, the consistency is still watery and not thicker like other liquid lipsticks. But it still applies smoothly.

The formula also includes some hydrating ingredient like aloe vera. This helps to soothe the lips and keep them hydrated all day. The dimethicone also helps to smooth the lip lines and lock in the moisture. These are incredibly comfortable to wear. It has a sweet creamy fragrance, but it does not bother me. But if you don’t like, I am mentioning it.

Application

There are a few things to remember before applying Maybelline superstay vinyl ink to your lips. You must remember to shake the tube before application. Wipe off the excess on the applicator. Just apply a very thin layer. Not only does the single layer of color give opaque coverage, but it also allows the product to set completely. And this gives the long-lasting effect.

Maybelline superstay vinyl ink applies smoothly to a very glossy finish, but sadly after sometime the glossiness disappears. And you are left with semi-matte finish. It wears well for several hours. It does not smear even after eating and drinking. I wore it for 8 hours with slight transfer but the color was still intact. I can say that this formula is some serious long wearing lipstick I have ever tried.

The Shades

#20 Coy – Dusty Rose Mauve.

#40 Witty – True Mauve.

#62 Irresistible – Medium Warm toned dusty brick red.

#115 Peppy – Medium warm tone with a hint of pink and brown.

#130 Extra – Pure brick red.

Overall, I love the Maybelline superstay vinyl ink liquid lipsticks. They are light-weight, great pigmentation, affordable, long lasting, comfortable on the lips, packaging is slick and luxurious. The color does not flake or fade at the end of the day. These are quite similar to Maybelline superstay matte ink liquid lipstick, but less sticky and has lighter watery consistency. These are definitely worth the hype. However, they are not 100% transfer-proof but the color stays well all day. If you are looking for long-lasting, smudge proof lipsticks, that you can also wear under your face mask, you will definitely love these. I highly recommend you try.
