Hi! Today, I want to share some beauty hacks on how to apply lipstick to make lips look fuller. Well defined and amplified lips are still a thing of beauty and will always be. Fuller lips are very attractive and alluring. The truth is, there’s nothing sexier than a plump pout. Whether you’ve seen an over-lined lips on social media, or just look at the gorgeous lips of Angelina Jolie or maybe a pretty woman walking down the street. You will agree that fuller lips look beautiful. Not everyone is naturally blessed with bigger pout, but there are ways to make your lips bigger. No! I am not talking about the lip injections or lip fillers, but about some makeup tips and tricks that will help to create the illusion of fuller lips. So here is how to apply lipstick to make lips look fuller.
Preparing your lips for lipstick – Prepping your lips is important especially during winter, when your lips often get dry and flaky. However, even if your lips are not dry, lip care is as important as skincare. Regular exfoliation and moisturization is a must to keep your lips soft, smooth and healthy. Besides it also stimulates blood circulation in your lips and makes them look fuller. You can exfoliate your lips using a good lip scrub. Simply take a little on your fingers and gently rub the scrub in circular motions, on your wet lips to exfoliate the dead skin. Then wash it off with running water.
Tip – You can also make one at home by using sugar and olive oil. Mix a little and make your own lip scrub at home. It works similar to a store bought one. It will help to slough away all the dead skin from your lips.
Lip Care – After exfoliating your lips, it is very important to instantly apply a hydrating lip balm on your lips, or else your lips will feel more dry. A good lip mask or lip balm will immediately provide intense boost of moisture, that will make your lips softer and smoother. Let the lip balm sink in for a few minutes before applying your lipstick. Special care is important when you plan to wear a matte lipstick, because matte lipsticks are usually more drying.
Outline your lips – For a more fuller/bigger lips it is always good to outline your lips with a neutral lip-liner. If you are going for a neutral lip. Preferably a shade deeper than the natural shade of your lips. If you don’t have a well defined cupid’s bow, you can always draw a crisp outline to frame your lips. Start your liner at the corners of your lips and then fill the lips with liner, slightly fading towards the center of the lips. The trick here is to slightly exceed the liner where your lips meet your skin, to create the appearance of fuller lips. Beware not to go too big, at the end you want your lips to look natural. Besides a well defined lip contour will prevent your lipstick from bleeding.
When selecting your lip liner shade, always go for shades that match well with your lipstick. However, to add more drama and dimension try to outline your lips with deeper shade of liner than the lipstick shade. Then fill your lips with your favorite lipstick. But blend it well to create that gradient lip. It is more attractive and eye catching. Try it!
Define your outer lip line with concealer – Just as the concealer is the finishing step for perfect eyebrows, it is also a great way to define your lips. Cleaning the edges with a matching concealer creates more contrast and defines the lips.
Apply lip gloss to the center of your lips – Finally apply a high shine lip gloss just to the center of your lips. It will make your lips fuller. Go for a shade that is 2-3 shades lighter than your lip liner. Lighter shade in the middle, while deeper shade to the edges of the lips will add an illusion of plumper lips.
Lip plumping balm/gloss – Using a lip plumping balm or a gloss will give the illusion of bigger lips. However, this will last a couple hours. But is effective if you are in a hurry. Carry one in your purse to use it all day.
Overall, this is how to apply lipstick to make lips look fuller. Since I am more of a lipstick girl, I always try these tips and tricks to make my lips look fuller. Going for neutral shades is a great way to fake fuller lips. Just remember darker outlines and lighter lipstick with added gloss will do the trick. Sometimes when not applied correctly darker lipsticks can make your lips look flatter. But perfectly applied deeper shades look fab on every woman. And remember to introduce some lip care in your daily beauty routine to keep your lips looking perfect. How do you take care of your lips? Let me know in the comments.
Until next time stay safe and beautiful! 🙂
