Hey lovelies! I know I am soooooo late with my review on Colourpop MAR shadow palette. I had featured it way back in my Colourpop haul. Anyway! better late than never. The MAR palette was released along with another palette called SOL shadow palette. When I first saw these palettes I was unable to decide, which one to buy. Of course I was tempted to get both as these are so inexpensive along with great quality. But then I thought about my Colourpop Yes, Please! Palette, which has somewhat similar shades to SOL. So I got the Colourpop MAR Shadow Palette instead. This palette is inspired by the ocean and perfect for summer time and vacations. And also loved the combination of warm bronzes and the cool blues.
Product Description – You’re so wavy. This teal and bronze 9-pan shadow palette is a colour lover’s dream! Insanely pigmented teals and wearable bronzes make this the perfect vacay palette. Slip this sleek mirrored palette in your luggage and make a splash!
Highly pigmented shadow that applies evenly and feels ultra-velvety and silky. This long wearing formula contains a unique combination of softer powders which adheres easily to the eyes, gives a soft focus effect, and blends smoothly and evenly.
The packaging of the Colourpop MAR Shadow palette is surprisingly different. All the colourpop palettes that I own like the Yes, Please!, Dream St, She Palette all have card board packaging with magnetic closure. However, the Colourpop MAR Shadow Palette is packaged in a hard plastic case with a nice mirror inside. The metallic blue design on white is pretty. But, I recently checked the website the packaging of the Colourpop MAR shadow palette has changed to blue color, while the shadows inside are the same. I love how travel friendly the packaging is.
Inside the palette there are nine eye shadows beautifully placed. Unfortunately the names of the shadows are not printed below each shadow. The color story is very pretty. I just love the warm and cool tones in this palette. There are endless possibilities at creating different eye looks. However, if you are like me, you will end up with the same eye look all the time hahaha!
The nine eye shadows in the Colourpop MAR shadow palette are a mix of matte, satin and metallic shades. The pigmentation of the eye shadows is great. It reminds me of the Alamar Cosmetics Eye shadow palette.
El Rey – This is the first shadow in the palette. It is a soft warm tone peach with golden undertone. And has a pearly sheen to it. In the swatches it looks very light in comparison to what it looks in the pan. The satin finish makes it perfect inner corner highlight.
Wild One – This is such a pretty orange-y copper shade. It has that metallic sheen to it. It is very soft and creamy in texture. However, it applies well with fingertips than a dry brush. Pigmentation is great.
Detour – Detour is a medium tone bright cobalt blue. This shadow has a matte finish but in the swatch it looks a like it has some satin sheen. However, it feels a little dry but performs well.
Boozy – Boozy is a bright golden orange with slight yellow to it. It has a golden metallic finish. It looks orangish in the pan but in the swatch you can see it is more golden yellowish. The formula again is soft and creamy.
Gridlock – This is a bright teal blue metallic shadow, with specs of silver glitter. The shade is eye catching in the palette. The texture and formula of this is also soft and creamy. This is the unique one in this palette.
Sorbet – Sorbet is a soft warm peachy shade and has a matte finish. This one again feels a little dry but is easy to blend.
HWY – A subtle light minty blue/green. This one is also matte with some sheen. It feels a bit dusty but blends well.
TopDown – A deep dark brown and has a matte finish. The pigmentation is great and applies well.
My Way – A medium tone bronze shade. This one has a nice metallic finish. The pigmentation is on point. However, this particular shadow has some fall out though. It is better to use a damp brush and a primer. It certainly demands it’s way 🙂
Overall, I am loving this cute little Colourpop MAR shadow palette. I am so glad that Colourpop has these smaller palettes, that are so affordable and great quality. The inspiration of ocean and beaches is visible in the color selection of this palette. I love to use these kind of shades and am glad to have this palette. I have to say Colourpop never disappoints. What do you think of this palette? Do you like smaller palettes or prefer larger ones? Let me know in the comments. 🙂
Until next time stay healthy, bright and beautiful! 🙂

Great Post! I think colourpop dis a great job with this palette. I enjoy the blues, but also the neutrals as transitions needed to complete a whole look with this palette!

Yes Jennifer the packaging is pretty and love how small and compact it is. The shadows are great quality too. Thank you so much. 🙂
What a gorgeous selection of colours! The metallic blue is stunning!
It is such a pretty eye catching shade. I love it too. thank you very much Shireen. 🙂
Some very pretty shades in here, Via. As you know, I don’t tend to wear shadow, but I can imagine they look lovely on you. I know what you mean about ending up with the same eye looks though, I always wear either a brown or a purple eyeliner and mascara. That’s my look and I rarely deviate! Lisa x
Same with me Lisa. I wear shadows when I have time. But yes a colored liner and some mascara are easy. 🙂 Thank you Lisa.
I really like the different varieties that this shadow palette gives. The colors are close enough that you can still do a really nice blend. The packaging is super cute as well. It is great that they have different textures as well. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I can see pairing up El Rey with Gridlock for summery, Mediterranean vibes. While I’m still a Colour Pop virgin, I just may have to give the brand a try at some point xo❤😍
