5 Must-Have Base Makeup Products for Oily Skin

Hi! Having super oily skin is a boon. But at the same time you have to work harder to maintain it. Today, I want to share my 5 must-have base makeup products for oily skin. These together help me keep my makeup in place for a longer time.

I have super oily skin, besides living in tropical country it gets more oily in a couple of hours. Using different clay masks helps to keep the oils in control. While oily skin has it’s advantage and disadvantage. The advantage being it ages slow and the disadvantage is that we have to work harder to keep the skin clean, healthy and acne free.

We also struggle with our base makeup. I always struggled to have a flawless base makeup that lasts a longer time. My makeup used to vanish after a few hours. Besides, after a couple hours, it used to look very oily, cakey and moved around, eventually disappearing. But after trying many products with different combinations, I have found my favorite combination of products that give me a perfect matte base for my super oily skin, that also lasts well throughout the day.

Neutrogena Sheer sunscreen, SPF 50 – Using a good sunscreen on a daily basis is a must. I have been using this sunscreen for many years and love it. The light weight texture absorbs into the skin quickly and does not give that white cast. Stabilized with HELIOPLEX®, provides a broad-spectrum protection against skin aging UVA and burning UVB rays. The Dry Touch technology feels ultra-light. This lightweight sunscreen has a light fresh scent and is gentle enough even for sensitive skin. This oil free sunscreen is water and sweat resistant and does not clog pores. Besides it is very affordable. I purchase mine from Amazon.

Benefit Porefessional mattifying primer- Pore minimizing, mattifying primer sounds like music to oily skin girls. One of the best primers that provides smooth base while keeping your skin matte. If you prefer a little glow the pearl version of this primer works equally well.

Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation – The classic foundation by Estee Lauder has been around for years and has been a savior for oily skin gals. It prevents makeup from melting in the hot weather. It is a full coverage foundation that does not look cakey or heavy on the skin. I love how it makes my skin look flawless. The lasting power of this foundation is fabulous. A similar foundation at the drugstore price is the L’Oreal Pro Matte Foundation, which I also love.

RCMA No color powder – This has become one of my new favorite setting powder. While it goes without saying that if you have oily skin you need to set your makeup with a nice setting powder. I have a few favorite setting powders, but currently RCMA no color powder is working well for me. This no color powder is super affordable and beauty gurus love it. This finely milled translucent powder helps my makeup to last longer, through out the day. I like to use a powder brush to set my makeup.

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray – Setting your makeup with a good setting spray increases the staying power of your makeup. The Urban Decay All Nighter is my favorite setting spray that sets and keeps my makeup in place for longer time. Besides it keeps my skin matte for longer period of time.

Overall, these are my 5 must-have base makeup products that help to keep my skin matte and make my makeup last longer. After trying and testing many combinations, this is my current favorite.
