Hey lovelies! Today I have four affordable facial cleansers for oily skin, to talk about. Cleansing is an essential part of every skincare regime. It helps to get rid of all the dirt, grime, oils and elements that clog our pores and dull our complexion. It is one of the most important things to do in order to maintain good and healthy skin. There are so many different types of cleansers available, for different skin types. However, I believe a cleanser should be gentle yet very effective, in cleaning the skin. You also don’t have to spend a lot of money for that. It is more important to find a cleanser that works best for your skin type.
I have very oily to combination skin, that is more acne prone, especially when I neglect my skin. Besides, oily skin people should take extra care as they are more prone to blemishes. I have tried a lot of inexpensive to more higher end cleansers. There was a time, years ago, when I (due to many reasons) didn’t care much and used whatever was available. However, in this long time of trying and testing different cleansers, I have learned and know what works best for my skin. I have stopped using face washes that are harsh and strip the skin of it’s natural oils.
In my experience, I have also learned that the more I used to use these harsh soaps and face washes, the more oily my skin used to become. And the cycle continued. Having said that, I love trying new products but I stay away from those soapy, fragrant face washes, that makes your skin feel dry and tight after washing (can’t believe I used to do that). Here are my four affordable facial cleansers, that I have been using in rotation for more than three years now.
Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser is a very simple, translucent and neutral lotion type of a face wash. It does not foam or even feel like anything but cleanses the skin without causing any irritation or dryness effectively. This cleanser is best suited for people with very dry sensitive skin. Besides cleansing the skin, it also adds moisture to the skin. When I first started using this face wash, I used to doubt whether, it actually cleans that well! Yes! it does, clean thoroughly, even my oily skin. It is a cleanser, that does the job way too gently.
Even though, Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser is regarded “gentle” and safe even for young children, the ingredient list contains parabens, which is considered a controversial ingredient in skincare products. It does not affect me or my skin in any way. But if you have very sensitive skin or want to stay away from the ingredient will have to avoid. I use this cleanser only when my skin is very sensitive. Like after using retinol, my skin gets way too dry and flaky and sensitive. Then I use Cetaphil cleanser. I have to mention one thing. There is another version that is for oily skin. It is similar but has a very strong fragrance, that I do not like, so I get the regular one. 🙂
When I saw this cleanser I had to get it because I love the Himalaya Neem Face pack as well as the peel off mask, that is available in this range. This is a soap free herbal formulation that cleans impurities effectively. The anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties of turmeric and neem help to prevent the recurrence of acne and pimple. I love the green gel consistency and the fresh scent of this face wash. However, I don’t use it daily, because it makes my skin squeaky clean. This may be a little too drying for people who already have dry skin. But it is great for oily skin gals, besides it is very affordable, to keep those acne/pimples away.
Celeteque Acne Solutions Acne cleansing gel
Celeteque is a Philippines based brand that is backed by science and is co-created by dermatologists. I have spoken about this in detail here. Since I tried this cleanser, I am using it non-stop. I always have a back up of this, because sometimes it is out of stock in my supermarket. This gel cleanser has hydroxy acid in the form of salicylic acid that can penetrate deeper into the skin as well as hair follicles and exfoliate dead skin cells. This is one of the best that I have tried. It is gentle, controls oil, helps control breakouts and is fragrance free, which I love. I highly recommend this cleanser for oily acne prone skin and if you are living in Philippines. It is available in all drugstores and supermarkets.
Body Merry Glycolic Acid Cleanser
I bought the Body Merry glycolic acid cleanser on the basis of the rave reviews on Amazon. While gentle cleansers are the best for daily use, sometimes we need something, that is a little stronger. The Body Merry glycolic acid cleanser has powerful exfoliating ingredients like glycolic acid, willow bark and jojoba beads, that help to get rid of dead skin cells. It also consists of kojic acid and plant oils that nourish and hydrate the skin while it deep cleanses. This is again a watery gel like consistency with jojoba beads and is fragrance free, which I love. It leaves my skin more radiant and flawless looking.
When I first used this cleanser, I loved the instant result. My skin was smooth, clean, brighter and less oily for longer time. I used it again the next day. But, my face felt a little sensitive and also noticed mild redness. Now, I use this cleanser only twice a week. I will just take a pump of it and massage my face, leave it on for a minute or two and then wash it off. It is just amazing for taking away dead skin cells and making my skin a lot softer and smoother. The jojoba beads are gentle, safe and more natural. Besides it is also safe for the environment. I just love this cleanser.
The glycolic acid that is present in it, is one of the safest and most effective on skin issues like pimples, blackheads, fine lines and wrinkles, dull appearance and oiliness. It helps accelerate the skin’s renewal process, making your skin brighter, flawless and more radiant. I have used four bottles already and regularly using this makes my skin soft and smooth. But the best is it helped improve the texture of the skin while also helps to control blemishes, that I get sometimes. It also helped me to lighten the sunspots and acne spots, making my skin more clear and even. Besides, it is made in the USA and is cruelty free.
These are the four affordable facial cleansers for oily skin, that I am loving and will keep purchasing again and again. These are the ones that I use regularly when I am not wearing any makeup. But, when I am, I do the extra cleansing step that is needed. I highly recommend trying these four affordable facial cleansers, if you have oily to combination skin that is more prone to blackheads and acne.
Thank you and until, next time stay flawless and beautiful my friend. 🙂

Thanks lovely these are great and so affordable. Have a nice weekend.:-)
Aw, the one I would love to try most is the Celeteque, which I’m guessing isn’t available in the UK! I’ve recently been using an aloe vera-based cleanser which is so gentle and soothing that my oily skin has been quite blemish-free for a few weeks now. I think perhaps I was being too harsh on it before, I’m going to see how I get on with this gentler cleanser for a while longer. All these look very budget friendly though, thank you for your thorough review and recommendations 🙂 Lisa x
Thanks a lot Lisa. Glad you liked. I have read your post and I think Aloe Vera is so soothing and natural. Great for our skin. And yes Celeteque, I guess is only available in Philippines. God sometimes I forget I live here hahaha 🙂

Thanks a lot my dear. Glad you liked. 🙂
I love your selection. I have a very dry skin and most of cleansers I’ve tried are drying it even more. It’s terrible, really. I can’t use such, so I go for tonics and water with very delicate soaps. Maybe you have any suggestion for me?

Thanks a lot Dorota. I think you should try the Ceaphil cleanser. It is very, very gentle. Get a small bottle and see if it works. I have used it a lot. 🙂
I haven’t seen these products before. I like to see what other people use and recommend. I usually stick to the same products and brands 😂🙈 thank you for sharing. You have taken such beautiful photographs! Xx
I have the same skin type and it is hard to find the right skincare products. Cetaphil does a great job with their cleansers! They work! I haven’t heard of the neem face wash but I need to check it out! Thanks for sharing these recommendations!

I don’t have oily skin, actually on the opposite – the dry skin. But I hear about Himalaya products that they are really good! 🙂 Currently I’m using Biotherm for dry skin 🙂

Lovely choices! Haven’t heard of these except for Cetaphil but they sound lovely, especially that Body Merry cleanser – I love acids in my cleansers for the exfoliation!
Angela at Blush & Pearls
I purchased the Body Merry cleanser from Amazon, just based on the reviews. I think you will love it. Just try. However, you may not find the other two as these are mostly available in Asia. 🙂 Thanks a lot Angela.
