Hey gorgeous! Welcome to my blog! Today I have the well loved drugstore loose setting powder to talk about. Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder. This powder has been around since 1935 and it has been making waves on social media for very-very long time. I have heard, it is the best powder for setting makeup, baking makeup and making your makeup last longer, besides incredibly affordable. I purchased mine from Amazon. Actually I was looking for yet another well loved RCMA powder, but it would take time to deliver, so I opted for Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder in Translucent.
Having oily skin I always like to set my makeup with a setting powder and this helps my makeup last longer, while keeping my skin matte for longer time. These kind of setting powders are a necessity for me, so I keep trying different setting powders. A couple powders like the Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder as well as the Clinique Loose Powder are my favorites and I use them regularly. However, these are on the pricey side and finding an inexpensive one at the drugstore is a good thing. This powder is available in six shades, but I got the translucent one 🙂
Product Description on the packaging – Featuring an exclusive Microspun formula where loose powder particles are spun and swirled until they reach a cloudlike softness. This ultra smooth powder hides tiny lines, wrinkles and blemishes and gives a new softness to you skin. Use to set make-up or as a foundation. Long lasting. Dermatologically tested.
The packaging of Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder is a large plastic tub, with a nice print on the yellow translucent lid. We cannot screw the lid to close it but, have to just press it, thus this will not to easy to travel with. It has a sprinkler kind of lid inside to diffuse the powder. It also comes with a cute little powder puff, which reminds me of my childhood. However, I don’t use the puff, because it picks up a lot of product which I don’t want. The moment we open the lid, we are greeted with a lovely scent, which is also a quite intense. The scent is very distinct reminds me of my mum. Even though my mum never used this particular powder.
The powder inside is feels very soft and smooth. In fact, it is very soft. This powder is very finely milled and we get the smoothest and finest application. It has a little pink undertone even though it is translucent. When we blend, it looks absolutely translucent. The Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder has a very distinct fragrance to it. However, it fades away after sometime, but when I sniff closely, I get the faint whiff of it. If you are sensitive to scents, this may bother you. If you have sensitive skin, perfumed products can irritate the skin but this powder does not affect my skin.
I use a powder brush to apply this Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder and it helps to smooth out the texture on my skin. I have also tried using my damp beauty blender and just pressing the powder into the skin and it makes my skin look smooth. However, I would say that using a damp beauty blender/sponge or the powder brush, the end result is quite similar. So if I have more time at hand I use the damp beauty blender, but when I am in hurry, I just use the powder brush. 🙂 I have also noticed the peachy pink color of the powder gives a hint of pink to my skin, even though it is translucent. Using this powder also makes it very easy to blend blush, bronzer and highlighter.
The Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder and the Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder both are translucent. But they both have a little yellow and peachy pink color to them. When blended both look translucent. Both these powders do a very good job at keeping my oily skin matte for very long time. I find them both to be similar in texture and performance. But Coty Airspun Loose face Powder is cheaper in comparison to the price of Laura Mercier one. Besides this powder is amazing for touch ups. It completely mattifies the skin without looking cakey. This makes my makeup look fresh again.
Overall, this is a great setting powder at the drugstore. It is very affordable, touches up well, photographs well, smooths the fine lines and wrinkles, great for baking makeup and keeps my face matte all day long. Even after 5-6 hours of wear, my skin does not look oily. In fact, it looks dewy. This is more smoother and makes my skin flawless by hiding my pores making my skin looking perfect. I would absolutely say this is one of the best powders at the drugstore. This will last a long time as we get a lot of product and is very affordable. Obviously I love my other setting powders too but this one is really impressive and added to my favorites. The Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder is available on Amazon for just $5.99. This is a must try if you have oily to combination skin.
Which powder do you use to set your makeup? Have you tried this powder? Do you even like fragrance in your makeup products? Let me know in the comments. Thanks a lot for taking the time to read, I really appreciate it. Have a nice day. 🙂

I love the packaging, gives me old-school vibes!!! The price is amazing and I am so glad you love it!! I have oily skin and I must use translucent powders more often but with this heat, I don’t use a full makeup. You should have seen me now, I literally melting 🙁

Thanks a lot for stopping by. It is a nice face powder at the drugstore. 🙂
This is so highly recommended by many but I have never tried it. I also haven’t seen it for some time now.
Beautiful review as usual Via – I love Airspun! I feel like it smells a bit like a grandmother’s jumper but it is a wonderful powder that’s long lasting and, to be honest, the best drugstore alternative to the Laura Mercier transulcent powder. The minute Patrick Star recommended it, it was in my Amazon basket, no hesitations! x

I don’t use setting powder but after reading this perhaps I should start. The Coty packaging is just beautiful and it sounds like the best of the bunch. I’m very tempted now, thank you Via! x

Oh I like using powders over makeup as they really help to set makeup and give skin a beautiful glow depending on which I use. With loose powders I prefer them to be extremely fine like the Laura Mercier loose setting powder and use a little bit on the t-zone.
It’s extremely unique and I love the packaging as it does have the old-school vibe which is different.
Hope you’re having a lovely day!

I’d like to try this out but now I’m worried the scent might bother me. I have a couple bottles of the RCMA powder which has been lasting me FOREVER so I’m not sure when I’ll even be able to buy another powder!
Angela at Blush & Pearls
Oh Yes Angela, these powders last for ages haha! RCMA is a nice one too. The scent doesn’t bother me much but it does to so many of my friends. Have a nice day lovely and thank you. 🙂
Hello, hello again! There’s another blogger who reviewed this powder and she loved it just as much as you did. In fact, according to her it actually outperformed a higher-end powder she compared it against, so now I have no choice but to add it to my running list, especially at that price. Thanks for leading us in the right direction:)
