Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution Review

Hi! I am so excited to share my thoughts on Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution. My excitement is due to the brand and not the product. Finally, I tried Kiehl’s skincare. A brand that has been around since 1851, and on my wish list for the past many years. Kiehl’s is a universally approved brand in the beauty community.

As I have mentioned in a few of my earlier posts, a little bit of pigmentation has erupted on my right cheek and I am trying my best to get rid of it. Using glycolic acid skincare has significantly helped to lighten them but I also wanted to try the popular Kiehl’s clearly corrective dark spot solution. One of the best selling products by the brand. Actually, I purchased it for my hubby. He used it regularly for a couple months, but did not notice much difference in his skin condition. He does not have dark spots specifically, but a little skin discoloration.

Product Description

Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution, is a serum that helps to diminish the appearance of dark spots and skin pigmentation. It also claims to visibly diminish the number and intensity of dark spots and discolorations. The potent formula penetrates deeper into the skin to help correct discoloration and uneven skin tone.

Key Ingredients

Activated Vitamin C, is a stabilized form of Vitamin C, that specifically addresses uneven skin tone and hyperpigmentation. Activated C works deeply to visibly brighten, boost clarity, and reduce the look of dark spots. This active ingredient starts working as soon as it comes in contact with the skin. If you suffer from dull tired looking skin, activated Vitamin C is the best. This lab-engineered, renewable ingredient is known for its stability and efficacy.

Buffered Salicylic Acid is another key ingredient that targets skin’s surface to work together with Activated Vitamin C to visibly reduce discoloration and improve the texture of the skin.

Glycerin, also known as glycerol, is a powerful humectant. A natural compound derived from vegetable oils or animal fats. It is clear, colorless and odorless liquid. In recent studies glycerin is regarded as the most effective humectant that is available to increase hydration of the skin.

Peony Extract, helps in soothing moisturizing and has anti-oxidant benefits. It also helps protect skin from damage caused by free radicals and nourish the skin. It works with Activated Vitamin C to give clearer looking skin. However it is almost last in the list.

Packaging

Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution comes in a clear glass bottle with a dropper cap. It is simple fuss free and practical. I love the clean packaging with everything printed in black.

Texture & Consistency

The serum has a light watery consistency. It is clear liquid and fragrance free. It is not at all sticky and absorbs into the skin instantly, which I love. But it is also very different to the Vitamin C serums that I have tried.

Application

I use this serum every day morning and night, after cleansing and toning. The light weight texture absorbs instantly. It feels luxurious to use this serum because of the non-sticky formula. It helps to keep me hydrated all day.

My Experience

I have been using this serum for the past 4-5 weeks. It feels good on the skin, especially the non-sticky formula for my oily skin. It made my skin soft and smooth. But I hardly see any difference on the dark spots and pigmentation of my skin. Even my hubby did not see much difference on his overall skin discoloration. I will keep using, but doubt that it will have any major difference. Because when I was started using the Glycolic serum from L’Oreal, my pigmentation had lightened significantly.

Overall, I love everything about this serum. The non-tacky formula, light weight texture, hydration and everything. But feel bad that this did not work for me. It was unable to fulfill the promise of fading dark spots. Besides it is a pricy product. I have read rave reviews about this product, but it happens sometimes what works for others may not work for me and vice-versa. If you love using Vitamin C in your skincare routine, but hate the thick and sticky formula in general, you might love this serum.
