The best thing is you don’t need expensive facials or professional treatments to achieve it. With the right skincare products and routine, you can gradually transform your skin into that beautiful, clear and luminous complexion. I have been using Korean skincare for the past decade and it has helped transformed my skin from oily, acne prone to a more clear and radiant complexion. Let’s explore the top K-beauty secrets on how to achieve Korean glass skin at home!

Double Cleanse At Night – A great skincare routine starts with cleansing. It is important to do double cleansing at night to remove all days makeup, dirt, oil etc. Start with an oil-based cleanser to remove makeup and sunscreen. Massage face with cleansing oil, rinse it off and then follow up with a gentle wash-off cleanser to deeply clean the pores for a clear complexion. While double cleansing is a must at night, using a gentle cleanser is enough in the morning to remove overnight oil build up and prepare your skin for the day.

Use A Gentle Toner – Apply a lightweight, hydrating toner immediately after cleansing to prep skin for the next step of skincare. A hydrating toner helps restore moisture for a plump bouncy skin.

Do The 7-Skin Method – Imagine clear, radiant, bouncy skin that’s plumped with hydration. The 7-Skin method is a Korean skincare hydration ritual, that involves layering a toner or essence up to 3-7 times by patting it into the skin to maximize moisture absorption into the skin. This method helps in boosting hydration, strengthens the skin barrier and prepares the skin for the other products. It works the best of dry dull skin but it can be customized for every skin types. After doing this method my skin looks so dewy and plump.

Gentle Exfoliation 2 to 3 Times A Week – Skin exfoliation is the key to glowing, smooth radiant skin. Avoid using harsh gritty scrubs, instead use a chemical exfoliant with AHAs or BHAs. These chemical exfoliants slough off dead skin cells, dirt and oil, while promoting brighter, smoother skin without damage or irritation. You can also incorporate a simple Korean skincare technique of using a damp washcloth, to gently wipe your face, which also helps remove dead skin cells and revealing softer, smoother skin.

Learn to layer light- weight serums and essences – Use essence and serums with hydrating and brightening ingredients like hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, niacinamide, alpha arbutin etc. to moisturize as well as brighten and clear skin pigmentations. Its a Korean beauty secret to use essence and serums with fermented ingredients to brighten the skin. Fermented rice water skincare is very well loved.

Moisturize daily – Use a light weight moisturizer best suited for your skin type. If you have dry skin use a rich cream moisturizer for extra hydration. If you have oily skin it is better to stick to a light weight gel moisturizer. Using snail mucin based products keeps skin hydrated, repairs skin barrier and promotes soft smooth glowing complexion.

Apply sunscreen daily – Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 50 everyday. It will help protect skin from harmful UV rays, that cause skin dullness, dark spots and hyperpigmentation. Sunscreen will also prevent the formation of dark age spots later in life. So make it point to apply sunscreen every single day. I am loving the Korean sunscreens that are light weight, with no white cast and non greasy feeling.

Use Gua-sha & Jade Roller – Facial massage is a great way to boost blood circulation for a radiant complexion. It also helps to firm the skin and facial muscles. While applying your skincare gently massage the products into the skin for that dewy glow.

Use Sheet masks regularly – Applying sheet masks 2-3 times a week for 15-20 minutes will add extra hydration to the skin. There are various types of sheet masks with different active ingredients available. Choose according to the need of your skin. I love this one.

Use Sleeping Masks – To achieve Korean glass skin, use sleeping mask. These overnight sleeping masks are designed to provide nourishment and hydration to skin while you sleep. I love how my skin looks when I wake up in the morning after using my sleeping mask.

Apply skincare products on damp skin – Apply your skincare products on slightly damp skin for better absorption. After cleansing, lightly pat dry and apply your skincare products. Hydrating toner, essence, serum, eye cream and lastly moisturizer. Apply all product without waiting for your skin to absorb each product fully.

Maintain internal health – Stay hydrated by drinking at least 8-10 glasses of water, to help your skin glow from within. Maintain a healthy sleeping habit. 7-8 hours of sleep is important because it allows collagen production, cell repair and regenerate damage caused throughout the day. And eat omega-3 and antioxidant rich food like berries, leafy greens, nuts etc. and avoid sugar, junk food, dairy, for a clear luminous skin, glowing with radiance from within.

Use hydrating and brightening skincare – Focus on using skincare products with brightening ingredients to increase skin luminosity. Avoid alcohol based harsh products as they can strip off moisture and damage skin barrier.

Avoid over-exfoliation – While exfoliation reveals brighter and glowing new skin, always limit exfoliation to 2-3 times a week. This will prevent skin irritations like redness, dryness and dullness. If this happens give your skin a break and let it heal. Only use a gentle moisturizer for a few days.

Some important tips to remember before you start your glass-skin journey – Now that you know how to achieve Korean glass skin at home, it’s time to embrace these skincare tips in your routine. Remember, you have to be consistent in your skincare routine to reach your goal. It usually takes 8-10 weeks of dedicated skincare routine to achieve the results. K-beauty products are usually gentle, and best suited for all skin types. However, skin sensitivity varies from person to person. Always do patch-test if you have sensitive skin. Lastly, choose products according to your skin types (dry, oily, combination or sensitive skin) and skin condition (like acne, skin discoloration, anti-aging benefits, reduce pores, soothe skin, eczema, psoriasis, melasma, dryness etc.)

Overall, achieving Korean glass skin at home is not difficult, be consistent and choose the right products for your skin types and needs. I have shared some of my favorite K-beauty products that I have tried and tested on my oily skin and those that are raved about in the beauty community. Even if you are not looking for glass skin effect, every person must practice three things – thorough cleansing, hydration and sun protection.

Until next time stay safe and beautiful! 🙂
