Hey friends! I received the Alamar Cosmetics Reina Del Caribe Palette in my June Boxycharm subscription box. I was pleasantly surprised and happy to receive this palette because it was newly launched in May. And after watching Katheleenlights video this palette was on my mind.
Alamar Cosmetics is a new cruelty free brand, created by Gabriella Trujillo. She is a very talented makeup artist. I discovered her through Kathleen’s videos. This makeup brand was created to embrace Gabriella’s Cuban culture and stay close to her roots, even when she was far from home. She was born is a place called Alamar in Cuba which means “close to the sea”. I feel so happy for her and always love to support. 🙂
Product Description – This palette features 8 highly opaque shades reminiscent to the beauty and culture of Cuba. Dive into the pigments and pearls found in the intense metallics, or round your look with the warm richness of the creamy mattes. For a more intense application, refer to the shade names that feature a droplet, these shades can be used with a wet brush – the sun symbol represents the shades that should be used with a dry brush.
The packaging of the Alamar Cosmetics Reina Del Caribe Palette is practical yet fun. It is a hard cardboard palette like the Yes! Please and Fem Rosa palettes by Colourpop. I love the outer golden yellow color with the beautiful orange logo. It is pretty. When we open the palette is looks absolutely beautiful with the bright yellow and red flowers and the green tropical leaf pattern. There is no mirror inside, just like my Milani palettes. But adding a mirror would also take away the asethetics of the palette. The tropical design adds beauty and takes you to the tropical wonderland.
The Alamar Cosmetics Reina Del Caribe palette features eight eye shadows in warm and cool tones. There are four mattes and four shimmery metallic shadows. The matte shadows are warm, while the shimmers are cool toned. I like the mix of colors. They complement each other very well. There are a few shades marked with a droplet sign (we can use a wet brush) and a few with the sun sign (dry brush).
The formula of these eye shadows in Alamar Cosmetics Reina Del Caribe Palette is creamy and soft. The shimmers are absolutely beautiful but these do have a little fall out. The mattes on the other hand are good and easy to blend. But I found the shimmers are more creamier than the mattes. I love the color selection and the pigmentation of these eye shadows is intense. You can see in the swatches.
La Costa – This is the first shimmer shadow in the palette. It is a light golden champagne color with a hint of pink. It is a very shimmery metallic shade. We can also use this shade as a face highlighter. But it will be super intense. 🙂
El Malecon – It is a true golden shade with rich olive undertones. The combination of gold and olive tones makes it a very unique shade in the palette. This shade is just stunning. And the level of shimmer is to another level. One of my favorite shades in the palette.
Varadero – Varadero is a deep ocean blue metallic shade. It is very intense in shimmer and a very vibrant blue color. The pigmentation is amazing. I rarely wear blue eye shadow but as a liner it is stunning. 🙂
Celia – This is again a high shine shimmery metallic shadow. It is a beautiful blue-ish green (maybe turquoise green) This teal shade is very pretty with Varadero.
Coco-taxi – This is a warm medium toned orange with a hint of yellow. It has a matte finish. The pigmentation is lighter in comparison to the other eye shadows in the palette. A nice transition shade.
Tropico – Tropico is the second matte eye shadow in the palette. It has a medium tone. But the shade is like burnt orange. It also has a hint of brown to it. These matte shadows have a soft velvety feel to them. However, I also felt this shade to be softer than the other mattes in the palette. This is another versatile shade. We can use as a blush. Of course, we have to be very careful and use a lighter hand. 🙂
Guantanamera – Guantanamera is again a matte finish shadow. It is a medium toned raspberry color with the warmth of burgundy combined. This is also a pretty shade. But feels a little powdery.
Cafecito – The last matte shadow in the palette is a deep coffee brown. It is a regular shade that we can find in many palettes. But it is an important shade when using only this palette. It replaces the black very well. The name Cafecito reminds me of coffee and Despacito ( like this song a lot) 🙂
Overall, I am very happy with the Alamar Cosmetics Reina Del Caribe palette. And even more happy that I received it in my Boxycharm. This palette in my opinion is worth the $28 price. I specifically love the shimmers shadows and they look flawless when used on their own. Can’t wait to get the Volume II that has recently released. :-). I know I am so late with my review. 🙂 This palette is available on Alamar Cosmetics Website as well as on Amazon.
